Carbon Steel Wok

My old nonstick wok shaped 12" pan that I had for nearly 15 years was looking beat up, the black surface was flaking off. It worked great otherwise but I was worried about the health effects of eating old nonstick material. New year wanted to be more healthy with eating more vegetables. I like stir-fry so I went with that.

I decided that what I want is a carbon steel wok, because that seems to be the right trade off of materials. Carbon steel is nice, because once you season it you don't have to worry about using metal utensils scraping off nonstick surface.

Pearl River Mart's website had woks. I preferred buying online and shipping it but I missed the window. After the new year, took a day to go into Chinatown to stop by their store to buy a wok and a lid and also some cooking utensils. I got a 12" high side wok for $16.50

It's been working great so far.
